The Lamentation of the old Penisioner __ class 12

Unit One :
 Love And Reminiscence
The Lamentation of The Old Pensioner
 – W.B. Yeast

The Heritage of Words "The Lamentation of the Old Pensioner" composed by W.B. Yeats, introduces the speaker's memories of his young life which become progressively agonizing when he differentiates his season of youth with his present maturity. He mourns on the death of his happy youth. Before, the speaker was youthful and he had a great job. So his companions and darlings tailed him. He was glad to discuss love and governmental issues. His previous existence just gives him desolation since Time has transformed him into terrible, feeble and futile elderly person. Neither his companions nor any marvels tail him. He is desirous to see other youngsters who challenge any connivance and shades of malice. This elderly person, who is constrained far from governmental issues and love, is as yet tormented by the interests of his childhood for ladies and discussion. He feels that his more prominent adversary is Time since it made him old and stole his physical magnificence, control and excellent sweethearts. Time stole his young imperativeness, vitality and sexual power. He contrasts his old stage and the wrecked tree. Time ransacked all his joy from him since it transfigured him into a revolting, feeble, apathetic, distorted and desolate elderly person. Along these lines, he demonstrates his indignation against Time and spits on its essence.
Inquiries for Practice :

 1. For what reason does the artist demonstrate his displeasure against time?

 2. For what reason does the elderly person need to 'spit into the essence of time'?

 3. Notice any three things the elderly person mourns about. For what reason would he say he is miserable about them?

4. Why and how does the old retired person regret?

 5. What is the speaker regretting on?"
